Masters of the Youth of Paradise

STATION 2

This is one of the most notable traditions reported from the Prophet PBUH about his two grandsons, signifying their status in Islamic history. The Muslim Ummah was gripped in a growing power struggle; where each party was competing for its own spot in the hierarchy of followers.

The love and admiration the prophet held for this two grandsons was amplified by the announcement that Hassan and Hussain were to be the masters of the youth of Paradise. It is important to note that according to Islamic tradition, the inhabitants of paradise would be youth, so this statement made by the prophet not only signifies the lofty status of Imam Hassan and Hussain, but acts as a significant declaration to the magnitude of their position in paradise.

The announcement soon became a basis for intense admiration, but also a source of envy. In fact, its significance at the time is evident, at the very least, from the numerous attempts that followed where  similar titles were forged in plagiarism for other personalities in Islamic history.
