The Ruins of Sham

STATION 18

Sukaina was Imam Hussain’s three-year-old daughter. Imam Hussain(as) loved his daughter very much and was very affectionate towards her.

After the martyrdom of her father, Sukaina was taken captive alongside her other family members, and travelled to Damascus.  She would often cry in the prison cell to be allowed to see her father. She is believed to have died when she saw her father’s mutilated head. Her death caused an uproar in the city, and Yazid, fearing a potential uprising, freed the captives.
